I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from California State University, Fullerton, but my connection with art began long before I received my diploma. As early as five years old, I began drawing and continued throughout my youth. Inspiration came from my fascination with ’80s skateboard graphics and video game graphics like Pac-Man.
I eventually landed a job with Disney as a Scenic Artist, working on projects like remodeling the Haunted Mansion into Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas. I was then hired at Hurley in Costa Mesa, California where I worked as the Director of Art for over 8 years. While working there, I continued to exhibit my artwork in major museum and gallery exhibits along with painting public murals from Los Angeles, Orange County and Rome to New York, Australia and Hawaii.
Now, I’m taking my 'Tippsy the Elephant' to new heights. My iconic character 'Tippsy the Elephant' was originally just a doodle on a napkin in the late 90's. Soon after, a whole cast of characters followed. Since then, he and his friends have evolved into a fun brand of art, accessories and apparel available exclusively at select retailers around Orange County, New York and here at jasonmaloneyart.com.
